What are Awareness Shows?

“Awareness Shows” are curriculum linked social, emotional & environmental education delivered as music shows & toured to Schools. Presented by real world professional performing musicians who devote time away from their music career to bring this unique & impacting educational approach to students internationally.

Using the unique power of music, our programs cast school wide nets within the two key learning areas below, with a range of aims & outcomes.

1. (Social & Self Awareness) these shows aim to emotionally engage students and create a deep awareness around the curriculum linked topics below. The emotional experience is then supported by a cutting edge social/mobile media system which provides a platform for discussion, referral, peer support and helps to connect youth in need to their school/community support services.

TOPICS: social & emotional wellbeing, drink driving & drug/alcohol issues, self esteem resilience & bullying, physical & emotional abuse, loss & bereavement, consciousness & spiritual health & positive decision making

PROVEN OUTCOMES: Reach outs & support service referrals regarding suicide, drug addition, physical/emotional/sexual abuse & bullying. Shifted whole school attitudes & opened on/offline discussion around the topics.

2. (Environmotional Awareness) these shows aim to create an emotional connection & emotional release along with practical information around the climate change & sustainability issues listed below.

TOPICS: climate change & sustainability, natural disasters, consumerism, indigenous issues, environmental appreciation

PROVEN OUTCOMES: Relieving feelings of anger, fear, despair, guilt, anxiety & depression whilst creating deep motivation, excitement & appreciation around the topics. "The Awareness Show was a perfect combination of charisma, talent and thought provoking music and dialouge discourse. From the moment the curtain opened the large crowd was captivated. Through the laughter and the tears the students were challenged to think about the world, their place in it and the legacy they leave behind. thank you once again I will be recommending this program to all I come into contact with.."(Megan Marshall, HOW, Francis Greenway High School, Maitland)

bluetickWhy are Awareness Shows so Effective?

bluetickONLY EDUCATIONAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE OF its KIND!

These Shows are the only music delivered, edutainment performances of their kind. Developed in consultation with Paul Johnson co-founder of Brain Storm Productions, this new, contemporary & innovative approach is a first to use music as culturally contextual & real world learning. Thousands of students have been positively impacted & the shows have been delivered internationally!

bluetickMUSIC IS THE MESSENGER!

Music is one of the most powerful & influential youth communication tools. Over 95% of students own an IPod or music playing device! When surveyed 100% of students said they are influenced by music & look up to the artists as role models 90% could recite the lyrics to their favourite songs! Music impacts students emotionally, psychologically & changes youth attitudes & beliefs at a deep level, many students associate their sense of self with artists they admire.

bluetickSTUDENTS KNOW THIS IS REAL!

The most defining & powerful advantage of Awareness Shows is that students know it is real. The performances are based on real experiences, events & information, true stories, delivered as powerful songs & learning!

bluetickWHOLE SCHOOL EVENT, AFTER SHOW FOLLOW-UP & RESULTS!

The shows are suitable for students from Yr8 to Yr12 & ideally designed to be delivered as a whole-school event; however there are customisable options for year levels. The whole school community is impacted, instead of just a small group.

Students connect emotionally to the songs & the learning outcomes then the positive messages are reinforced every time they listen to the music! After the show students are then connected to the (ONLINE RETAINED ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY), which uses a cutting edge social & mobile media platform to support positive social / mobile media behaviour, facilitate referrals, provide support & deliver resources & information via the Awareness Blog see: (http://wp.awarenessshows.com). The results have been amazing with many young people reaching out & seeking the help they need after a show, at school & online for a range of issues & the blog is being used as a learning resource in many schools!
